How to prepare for JEE Main
No magic timetable — four principles that reliably separate students who improve from students who plateau, plus real data on what the exam actually asks.
1.NCERT first, always
JEE Main is built on the NCERT syllabus — Chemistry especially rewards NCERT-line-by-line knowledge. Finish NCERT before any 'advanced' book.
2.PYQs are the syllabus in disguise
Solving 3–5 years of previous year questions teaches you exactly what NTA asks and how. Solve them chapter-wise while studying, then paper-wise for stamina.
3.Mocks are training, not judgment
One full 3-hour mock a week early on, two or more per week in the final months — always at exam time-of-day, always with the real interface, always followed by an honest review of every error.
4.Revision beats new material
In the last 6–8 weeks, stop starting new topics. Re-solve your wrong answers, drill formulas, and keep taking mocks.

A sane weekly rhythm
- Daily: 2–3 focused study blocks; end each topic by solving its PYQs the same day.
- Weekly: one full mock under exam conditions + a review session for every mistake (categorise: concept gap, silly error, time pressure).
- Monthly: revisit your error log; re-attempt every question you ever got wrong.
- Both sessions: plan to appear in January and April — the second attempt is a free upside, and the January experience is worth marks by itself.
